Simple Shoes for Fancy Feet

simpleshoesMy favorite Christmas gift last year was one that I bought for myself: my adorable new slippers from Simple Shoes.

I spent the better part of a year scraping across my hardwood floors in my old stretched-out slippers, trying to make them last another season. But when the soles on the old pair melted in a wine-fueled camping incident, I finally bit the bullet and went shopping for some new house kicks.

I used to buy those big fuzzy Dearfoam things, just like my grandma wore and I didn’t have to check the label to know that they weren’t made of anything that comes from nature. So I started shopping for something a little bit greener.

There are tons of websites that sell organic cotton slippers and slippers made out of hemp or bamboo fibers, but they were all so boring and beige. (I mean that literally – they were all beige.)

My Layaway slippers from Simple Shoes are anything but yawn-inspiring. I settled on the blue pair and, though they were a splurge at $60, I feel like an eco princess every time I put them on my feet.

Simple Shoes is committed to making its products 100 percent sustainable. My slippers are made with organic cotton, coconut fibers and felted wool, with water-based glues. More importantly, they are super cute and wearing them makes me feel way fancier than my old Dearfoams ever could.
