I rode the bus home from the library yesterday afternoon. Several stops into my ride, two women got on laden with Ross shopping bags.
One woman rooted around in her shopping bag for a while, then pulled out a box of soaps. The soaps were packaged in a brown box with a plastic top and nestled in a bed of shredded brown paper.
“Very eco-friendly,” her friend said, approvingly.
“Yeah,” the first woman said, examining the store receipt. “I’m making an effort to be more green.”
With that she balled up the receipt and threw it out the window of the bus.
Sigh.
(I love this photo of a sculpture of the 38 Geary — the scene of the crime — by artist Leslie Henslee.)

Haha =) That’s irony at its finest. You’d think that’d be common sense.
