Play Doh was a staple of my childhood. My sister and I spent whole afternoons playing with the stuff, with fake food being a favorite thing to model. We’d make plates of blue spaghetti and giant brightly-colored pizzas. It was hours of fun, for sure, but I cringe when I remember the times we just couldn’t resist taking a bite of one of our creations.
I’m here to tell you that the words “Technicolor” and “toilet” should never be used in the same sentence.
There is a safer alternative to those chemical clays. Eco-dough is all natural, made with plant, fruit and veggie extracts. There are no chemicals for kids to consume, and no artificial dyes or metals. Even the containers are made from cornstarch and are 100 percent compostable. And unlike Play Doh, if it’s left out overnight and dries out, just add a few drops of olive oil and it’s as good as new.
Eco-dough is available at ecokids and retails for $20.
