Art Mimics (Green) Life

Here is something really cool to start your week, and get you thinking about how you can reused items you might ordinarily throw away.

British artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster’s new sculptures prove that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. The pieces, made entirely of household garbage and other trash, are sculptures whose true beauty is only seen with light projected against them, creating an amazing shadow image that is entirely different what you see when you look directly at the deliberately disguised pile.

White Trash (With Gulls), above, is one of Webster and Noble’s earliest trash-based pieces. Six months’ worth of household waste plus a pair of dead seagulls comprise the heap of refuse. The shadow image is a self-portrait of the artists, taking a break with a cigarette and a glass of wine.
